LL BEAN

Bergmeyer Associates, Inc., a Boston based A & D firm, was hired by LL Bean to design a new retail store concept that would reflect the heritage of the original LL Bean retail store located in Freeport, Maine.  Part of the criteria was for the retail store to be a LEED certified building.

Mats Inc. worked closely with the designers at Bergmeyer to develop a new foot grille design for the entrances made of recycled aluminum featuring a special natural color Supreme Nop insert. The result was a unique high-performance recessed entrance system capable of handling high traffic conditions and potentially contributing to certification in three categories. This result offered an inviting natural fiber appearance consistent with LL Beans "woodsy" heritage. The project was a tremendous success in the eyes of the design team and the owner of LL Bean.
