MATS INC. LAUNCHES MODULAR TILES FOR THE FUTURE
STOUGHTON, MA – A new flooring product manufactured by Bolon of Sweden is available in the U.S. from Stoughton, Mass.-based distributor Mats Inc. Designed to meet the demands of today’s high-pace, 24/7 culture, the Eight Collection offers modular floor tiles manufactured to outwear other contract tiles available on the market today.Bolon developed Eight using special vinyl threads, a proprietary weaving process and new looms. The resulting product boasts a wear performance greater than most carpet tiles. The tiles are dimensionally stable and easy to clean, making them ideal for high traffic applications such as corporate offices and hotels.
“When we designed Eight, we put a lot of focus on giving the floor an urban look,” says designer Marie Eklund. “Both in terms of appearance and performance, Eight is well-suited for a fast-paced, big city.”
The collection includes eight different tiles in four natural-base tones. They are named after major metropolises: New York, London, Paris, Milan, Moscow, Tokyo, Sydney and Stockholm. Half of the collection is striped and referred to as Eight a.m. Half is solid and referred to as Eight p.m.
The collection was named because it is the eighth collection from Bolon and it reflects the eight-hour work day. Most importantly, eight is the symbol for infinity.
“We believe this is the product of the future,” says Eklund. “It is highly durable and will last for years. The design is intended to have a calming effect on stressed out people – a reality of urban living.”
Eight is manufactured in Sweden in an ISO 14001 manufacturing facility. The ISO 14000 environmental management standards exist to help organizations minimize how their operations impact the environment. Bolon flooring is 100 percent recyclable. Mats Inc. partners with reclamation facilities in the U.S. to take back the material.
